Bathing & Grooming Add-ons in Lincoln, AR
Welcome to Smithers Animal Hospital-Lincoln, where pets boarding with us can go home fresh, clean, and comfortable with our bathing and grooming add-ons.
Understanding Bathing & Grooming Add-ons
After a few days away from home, most pets are ready for a little freshening up. We recommend a bath after an extended boarding stay, and we offer separate bathing and grooming add-ons you can take advantage of while your pet is staying with us: routine bathing, therapeutic bathing, nail trims, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression.
These services aren’t just about looking nice. Nails that grow too long can affect how a pet walks and may split or snag. Ears that collect wax and debris are more likely to become irritated. Full anal glands can make a pet uncomfortable, often leading to scooting or licking.
Taking care of these small things during your pet’s stay saves you an extra trip and helps your pet feel their best.

What to Expect From Each Add-on
Please let us know which services you’d like when you make your boarding reservation. Here’s what each one involves:
Routine and Therapeutic Bathing
A routine bath washes away the dirt and odors that can build up during a boarding stay. Some pets have skin conditions that benefit from medicated or soothing baths, and therapeutic bathing uses products chosen for your pet’s skin needs. If your pet is already on a medicated shampoo, let us know.
Nail Trims
Keeping nails at a healthy length helps your pet walk comfortably and lowers the chance of a broken or torn nail.
Ear Cleaning
Cleaning removes wax and debris from the ear canal. If we notice redness, odor, or discharge, we’ll let you know so our veterinarian can take a look.
Anal Gland Expression
Some pets need help emptying their anal glands. Expressing them relieves pressure and discomfort.

Why Add Bathing & Grooming to Your Pet’s Stay
Our bathing and grooming add-ons are a convenient extra for any dog or cat boarding with us. Not sure what your pet needs? Ask our team when you book. We’re happy to help you choose.
- A fresh finish. A routine bath is a nice way to end any extended stay.
- Skin support. Therapeutic bathing may be a good fit if your pet has itchy, flaky, or irritated skin, or if our veterinarian has recommended medicated baths.
- Comfort and mobility. A nail trim and ear cleaning are easy to add at the same time.
- Relief for scooting. Anal gland expression can help pets who scoot, lick under their tail, or have needed it done before.
- Veterinary eyes on every pet. If we spot something that needs attention, our veterinarian can take a look.

Bathing & Grooming Add-ons: Frequently Asked Questions
What bathing and grooming add-ons do you offer?
While your pet is boarding with us, we offer routine bathing, therapeutic bathing, nail trims, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression. We recommend a bath after an extended stay so your pet goes home fresh and clean. Just let us know which services you’d like when you make your boarding reservation.
What is therapeutic bathing?
Therapeutic bathing uses medicated or soothing products to help pets with skin problems such as itching, flaking, or irritation. It can be part of managing skin conditions alongside other care your veterinarian recommends. If your pet already uses a medicated shampoo, let us know when you book.
Why does my pet need anal gland expression?
Dogs and cats have two small glands near the rear that normally empty on their own. Sometimes they don’t empty fully and become uncomfortable. Signs include scooting, licking or biting under the tail, or a strong, fishy odor. If you see swelling or your pet seems painful, our veterinarian can take a look.
Why do nail trims and ear cleaning matter?
Nails that grow too long can change the way a pet stands and walks, and they’re more likely to split, snag, or break. Ears that build up wax and debris are more prone to irritation. If we notice redness, odor, or discharge in the ears, we’ll let you know.
How do I add bathing or grooming to my pet’s stay and what are your hours?
Just let us know when you make your boarding reservation, and we’ll take care of it before you pick your pet up. Call us at (479) 824-3299 or visit us at 2157 E Pridemore Dr. in Lincoln. We’re open Monday through Thursday 7:30am–5:30pm and Friday 7:30am–5:00pm.
